The Washington State Department of Corrections, with assistance from the Aberdeen police Department and the Grays Harbor Drug Task Force, took an out of compliance sex offender back in to custody.

The 51-year-old man was believed to be living on the 100 B of E Harriman St. in Aberdeen.

When law enforcement arrived they found the door to the home open.  Officers attempted to contact the man verbally and advise him that he was under arrest.  The suspect then made his way to a bedroom towards the back of the home, barricading himself in the room and refusing to comply with officers.

The man remained barricaded in the room, even after officers used Vapor OC, or pepper spray, to force him out.  Officers eventually made their way into the house and into the room the man was holed up in and took him into custody without any further incident.

The man was offered medical assistance, and once refused, was taken to the City of Hoquim Jail on the felony warrant for his arrest that was issued by the Department of Corrections for being out of compliance as a register sex offender.  He was also cited for Obstruction of a Law Enforcement Officer and Resisting Arrest.

Upon further search of the bedroom, drugs along with items used in the sale and distribution of drugs were found and forward to the Gray's Harbor Prosecutor's office to review for further potential charges.
