The Okanogan Wenatchee National Forest is reminding the public about the rules of etiquette when sharing trails with other modes of travel.

The park is just a short walk from Leavenworth’s downtown area at the entrance to Tumwater Canyon.

WSDOT spokesperson Lauren Loebsack said the amount of moisture coming into the Wenatchee Valley has increased avalanche threats.

Wet snow and rain are being blamed for destabilizing snow, which is leading to extended avalanche danger through the stretch of highway.

There is currently no estimated time to reopen Tumwater Canyon, however crews will assess road conditions on Thursday morning.

U.S. 2 reopened after crews from the Department of Transportation cleared 10 snow slides across the highway.

WSDOT spokesperson Lauren Loebsack said dangerous weather conditions are currently prohibiting crews from assessing the situations.

Detours are available through I-90, US 97 onto Blewett Pass, and Chumstick Highway.
